Later that evening as I was in an Uber being driven back from my dinner at Arrogant Swine, a WCBS Newsradio 880 sports update gave out the final scores of LIU-Brooklyn's Northeast Conference title win and Stony Brook's loss in the America East final before noting Syracuse's first ever win in the ACC Tournament. Over on ESPN Radio's "Michael Kay Show," the crew squeezed in Iona head basketball coach Tim Cluess after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship between bullpen breakdowns and more debates about Kirk Cousins. Georgetown coach, and New York Knick legend, Patrick Ewing was interviewed as well. They did have Seth Davis, The Athletic's head college basketball analyst, to discuss what else, the FBI investigation. "The Afternoon Drive" with Chris Carlin, Bart Scott and Maggie Gray speculated about the New York Jets trading for Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (which isn't a terrible idea). CBS college basketball analyst Clark Kellogg dropped by to discuss the ongoing FBI investigation into agents and shoe companies. Of course, the NFL came up thanks to free agency and our industry's obsession with QB Kirk Cousins. They kept the spring training theme going with a discussion about New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey having another solid outing (hey, at least that has a Tar Heel connection). On "Boomer and Gio", the tandem talked about New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton's "hot bod" from a photo in the New York Post. So it wasn't like I was expecting the shows on WFAN to bring it up. Gold & I spent a good chunk of our split radio shift talking about possible tournament locations in the future, the overall trends of the local teams heading into the postseason, and my upcoming questing to find decent North Carolina barbecue in Brooklyn. Alright, it's the opening round of the ACC Tournament! Well, actually, not even we really got into previewing or discussing games featuring the bottom third of the conference.
